Overview

Secreted within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, HdAr delivered three individual new build luxury dwellings on existing green belt farmland in Buckinghamshire. Inspired by the site and its surroundings, the scheme was designed to take the form of agricultural buildings, formerly located on the site.

The blend of materials complements the various building forms that create three unique houses, each with their own individual connection to new and existing landscape around them. Corner windows that recess into the external walls help blur the inside and out, complimenting the biophilic design used across the development.

Upon instruction after planning consent, HdAr were tasked with delivering this complex scheme which required further successful planning discussions with the LPA and out of box thinking in order to successfully deliver the architectural design alongside the reworking of interior spaces and volumes.

Prior to King’s Cross being reinvented, York Central was converted into 20 large lofts, with 2,000-3,000 ft2 layouts making them among largest in London. They were sold as shells, most retaining the exposed concrete soffits and pillars for an authentic loft feel.
